Frequently Asked Questions

What can I expect in my first session?

Honestly? A conversation. Not an interrogation, not a formal assessment , just two people talking.

We'll start with what brought you here, what's been weighing on you, and what you're hoping to feel differently about. You set the pace. There's no pressure to have it all figured out or to share more than you're ready to.

By the end, we'll have a clearer sense of where you are, where you want to go, and whether working together feels like a good fit.

How long are sessions?

Individual therapy sessions are typically 50 minutes. Group therapy sessions may run a bit longer, often 60–75 minutes, depending on the group’s focus.

How often will I need therapy?

That depends on your goals and needs. Some people come weekly, others biweekly, and some only during certain seasons of life. We’ll work together to find a rhythm that feels right for you.

Do you offer virtual sessions?

At this time, we exclusively offer virtual sessions, giving you the flexibility to choose the time and place that feel most comfortable and accessible.

How do I know if therapy is right for me?

You don't have to hit a breaking point to start therapy. If you're overwhelmed, feeling disconnected from yourself, or just quietly exhausted, that's enough.

Some of the most common reasons people come to me: they're stuck in patterns they hate and don't understand, they feel fine on paper but hollow underneath, or they've been carrying something heavy for so long they've forgotten what it felt like not to.

You don't need to have it all figured out before you start. That's literally what therapy is for.

What issues do you work with?

I work best with adults who are functional, even successful, but privately exhausted. People navigating anxiety, grief, major life transitions, burnout, or a quiet but persistent feeling that they've lost touch with themselves.

I don't work with everything, and I think that's a good thing. My sweet spot is the space between 'I should be fine' and 'something still feels wrong.' If that resonates, you're probably in the right place.

How do I get started?

Getting started is simple.

For individual therapy, select your appointment type and book directly on this site. Once you're scheduled, I'll add you to the client portal, where you'll complete a short intake form before our first session. You'll also receive a separate email with your telehealth link closer to your appointment.

For Boundaries Without Guilt Group, book your spot on the site. I'll follow up personally with a brief questionnaire to help introduce you to the group before your first session.

For corporate and organizational services, skip the scheduler — just email me directly at marykelley@truevoicewellness.org and we'll take it from there.

Not sure which option is right for you? Feel free to reach out, and we'll figure it out together.
